The meaning of sacrafice
It's something not everyone takes too lightly
Why did a soldier die for his officers?
Why did a mother die to protect her child?

It's something that everyone looks at everyone and wonders
Who would throw their own life on the line for a bunch of meat?
Who would throw down everything they have to see others get more?
To some people it just doesn't make any sense

But see it from a soldier's perspective
See it from the side that actually fights day in and day out
Rather it be in the mountains or in a neutral country
Day in and day out; sacrafices are made to the lions

The meaning of sacrafice
From a soldier's perspective is something of pure gold
A best friend died to save my skin
He would have been a father and he was a loving husband

The meaning of sacrfice
It would be hard for the messengers to tell his wife and mother
Seeing them with teary eyes and asking why did it have to be him
It would be harder for me to tell them he died saving my skin

The meaning of sacrafice
Then again it would be hard for him if I saved his skin
Taking a bomb blast or a bullet in the chest
It would be hard either way to say he sacraficed himself to save my skin

The meaning of sacrafice
May he rest in peace as the flag is neatly folded
As the pins of a SEAL is punchered into his casket
As his loved ones watch their son resting but in tears

The meaning of sacrafice
A letter I am writing to my friend's son
It's harder for me to do this
Writing to a boy who lost his father and is still too young

The meaning of sacrafice
It's so hard to comprehend
Yet I am alive with a new outlook
I think I finally understand

The meaning of sacrafice
The price of freedom as the folk of young and old sleep with protected dreams
Paid in the price of blood to pay for corruption back home
Paid in tears for the price of freedom

Many have died and were tossed to the lions
Sacrafice is too hard to comprhend because there's so many opinions on what it is
But what it really is is an act of valor that rests now in peace
Rests in peace because loved ones are free to live

The meaning of sacrafice
Your father did it because he wanted his son to live in grace
Did it because he wanted his teammates to live their lives
Did it because he loved to see people free

The meaning of sacrafice
I hope you will understand when you get older
Understand that your father did not die for nothing
I'm sorry to say that I have nothing more to say

The meaning of sacrafice
It doesn't matter what president runs the country
What matters is what a warrior of valor would think
Sacrafice is something down out of love; your father would have loved you very much
This poem is basically talking about sacrafice. I wrote this because I now have a fascination for Navy SEALs and I have been seeing movies like Act of Valor and of course I played the 2010 version of Medal of Honor (I really want to play Warfighter) and I wrote this because it's tear jerking to see brave men fighting for a country that has so many mixed opinions and they are willing to sacrafice their lives so the cycle could repeat itself. I did not write this to offend anyone and no I'm not in the military but this poem could also be described as a letter to a son who is too young to understand sacrafice but would wonder what happened to his father. I hope you read this poem with respect and that even means not making any debates about war or politically ideology (if you want to do that then do it on YouTube because I have seen a lot of that).

I really liked this. It touched my heart, and I can relate. Both my sister, and my brother are in the Air Force. My sister has been to Afghanistan. Although she was not fighting because she is a meteorologist, it is still a scary thought though. I couldn't imagine being in that situation, and it's amazing to know the sacrifices that others make for those people that they do or do not know. I really appreciate you writing something that has a huge impact on some people's live. I appreciate you writing about what sacrifice really is, and why people do it. This poem is really amazing, and you should be proud of yourself for writing it. Even though I have not lost anyone in a war, I still know what some people in the world would do for others. So thank you very much. :D

I am very proud of writing this. My entire family (as far as i know of since WWII) have fought the nation's wars. I even had a cousin who died in 'Namthat and got the Distinguished Service Cross. It didnt say what he did though except the cause of death
